A little nervous...

Hey!:)

I'm not sure whether I'm posting in right place. I've just joined.

I went to my GP with a lump on my breast, although my partner had felt it too I was kind of adamant that the GP would tell me it was nothing....he didnt!

The next day the breast clinic called and I had a hiddious 10 day wait for my appointment.

Firstly I saw the consultant who, well, urm...provided no reassurance atall!. She had a feel and told me there was absolutely nothing there, no lump etc. I, thankfully, wasnt reassured by her and told her there definitely was...a sigh and a " well ok, to put your anxiety at rest I will send you for an ultrasound", was enough to send me on my way.

Once in to have the ultrasound, straight away the doctor saw it on the screen, she said it wasnt what they call a simple cyst as there was showing a mass in it?!, she classed it as a complex cyst?, she then signalled to the nurse that a biopsy would be needed.

I was then sent back up to the consultant who congratulated me for being right ?! Very odd!.

So now I'm on the waiting train again, been told 2-3 weeks for results....

Just really wanted to know if anyone else had an experience like mine? Can I ask for a different consultant as im really questioning her, although I guess, they can't always get It right!?....

Xx

  • I've had breast cancer but I have a cyst in other breast the fact they are still calling it a cyst is a good sign they can tell the difference on the screen. Some Cysts can change so it's so good you pushed your thoughts on Consultant I hate their attitudes it really pees me off. I would ask them to remove it worry gone then . They kept telling me there was nothing wrong and there was your life is in your hands so push again if you think something is not right. Good luck

  • Thankyou so much for you're reply.

I'm sorry to hear you've had breast cancer but greatful you can give advice at the same time.

The consultant said when I went back up" I really didn't feel it" strange as its uncomfortable enough to feel like something is there ( top of my ribs).

She also said if I get a letter then it's less serious than if I get a phone call?, is that correct?! Seems a bit of an odd comment to send a patient off with.
