Calcifications help

Hi all, registered here to ask for some advice. Had early mammogram, I'm 48. Called back as calcifications have been detected in left breast, another mammogram, ultrasound and biopsy and told to go back in 2 weeks. Have totally lost the plot since, I am normally quite strong and take things in my stride but this has knocked me for six. All I was told was that it was very small and they wanted to check it out and left the marker in there for any future treatment. Am I worrying for nothing and if something is found what is the further treatment likely to be. Anyone with any experience please help xx

  • Hi Simplydivine.

I can see from one of your other posts that you've found reassurance in reading some of the posts here on the forum and that you're feeling a little less anxious. We know that waiting for results can be a really difficult time.

There's a useful leaflet on the Breast Cancer Now website about breast calcifications which you might find interesting if you've not already seen it. I've linked it for you here. You're always very welcome to call our team of nurses to talk through any concerns or questions you may have. They're available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I hope your appointment brings good news. Do let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,

  • Hiya

what was the problem with your breast did they actually tell you?

    was you in any pain?
    I have my mammogram tomorrow I'm terrified. I'm 30. x

  • Hi Ktlondon,

They didn't really say to much just that calcifications had been seen and biopsy to make sure it was nothing. One of the nurses said that as it's my first mammogram and they don't know if the calcification is normal for they have to do biopsy to rule anything out.

I have since had a letter and given the all clear, the waiting was an absolute nightmare. I have never been so relieved and almost feel guilty for saying that on here as so many people are going through treatment.

have you had any tests yet

    Lisa xx

  • Was you in any pain with your breast? Was it a symptom?x

  • No, I was just called for a routine mammogram and then called back as the calcification showed up.
