The waiting never seems to end

In October 2019 my CA125 was raised and I was put on the fast track for ovarian cancer. On 9th January 2020. Almost 3 months from CA 125 I finally had surgery to remove my only remaining ovary and a multiloculated  mass of 8-9 cm. Washings were done of my peritoneum, adhesion sites that couldn't be removed, and biopsies of omentum were taken, plus of course the mass (liquid, solid area etc)

3 weeks and still no results, so my diagnosis journey thus far is running at almost 4 months. I am at my wits end does diagnosis normally take this long?

  • Hello Rowantree

I'm sorry to hear that you're still waiting for your results. Undoubtedly this will have been a difficult time for you. I hope that you're recovering well from your surgery.

Sometimes results can take longer as they need to be sent to specialist centres, a second opinion is requested or the Consultant asks for a patients case to be discussed at an MDT before speaking to the patient. It can be frustrating but hopefully you won't have to wait too much longer and the Consultant will have all the necessary results and information to give you.
If you've not heard from the hospital then do give them a call and ask when you are likely to have an appointment. You're also welcome to speak to one of our nurses for some support. They are available on 0808 800 4040, Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

I do hope that you have some news soon.

    Best wishes,
