Breast cancer at 20??

Hi,

I found a firm lump in my right breast near my nipple about 3 weeks ago

I went to the (male) GP who told me to wait another 6 weeks and see if the lump goes on its own.
I know it's extremely rare to have breast cancer at this age but with the pain, the lump, the uneven density in my breasts and family history (aunt and grandma) I am slightly concerned about having to wait another 6 weeks to be considered for a referral to the breast clinic

do you reckon I should just relax and wait for the 6 weeks or push to be seen earlier just for peace of mind

  • Hi Zwx,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. It's usually good to trust the doctors as much as possible, but if you feel you'll be worrying during the six weeks - or perhaps if nothing's changed after 2-3 weeks and you're still concerned - you could see if there's anything that can be done a little quicker.

If you'd like any advice from our nurses, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
