Skin cancer

My husband has had what he thought was a spot just inside his ear for a few months now but just lately it has been bleeding so today he's been to the doctor and he says he needs a biopsy as it could be low form of skin cancer I am so worried about him

  • Hi,

It sounds like your GP thinks it may be basal cell carcinoma which is a non melanoma skin cancer. BCC is non invasive and therefore not life threatening. It can however spread on the skin and look nasty if not removed. BCC often occur on the head, face and ears due to exposure from the UV in the sun. Hopefully this will be confirmed by a biopsy which will completely remove the 'spot' . Good luck and please let us know how you get on.

  • Hi just a update on my husband the one in his ear was Bcc and was removed he also had one in front of his ear which was re and would bleed unfortunately due to Covid19 his appointment which was in April was cancelled until last Saturday when he went they removed it there and then they went quite deep as he has internal stitches as well now have to wait for results but since having it cut out he's getting pain there

  • Hi,

if they had to go quite deep it may be that they've nicked a nerve - these take a while to settle down. If it's still a problem in a few days time either contact your GP or the hospital if it was done by dermatology. Good luck with the results xx
