No they didn't remove them , they are a right pain and cause much discomfort. My anxiety definitely made my symptoms worse , I was absolutely convinced 100% that there was something awful wrong . Try to stay busy and not focus on the pain , I know it's easier said than done though x

I suffer quite badly with health anxiety and I'm also a medical secretary which really doesn't help (too much knowledge) when you suffer from this illness. I have a whitish/yellowish oval growth on the back of my throat left hand side.    I did have something similar removed 4 years ago and was told it was a mucus retention cyst, I have just looked at the discharge report I was given at the hospital and it says I had retention cyst left tonsil.    I am not quite sure if the one I have now is exactly the same,   I did not have any symptoms with it last time, but I keep going a bit hoarse when talking and I keep trying to clear my throat, I wandered if you had these symptoms.   My GP sent a referral to hospital, but had reply from

hospital, saying no appts at E.N. T available at present

I just had a bit of a dry , not sore throat like my throat was irritated . My little cyst type thing eventually went down in time but it took a while .

I have had a sore dry throat since march 2022.potentially after having mild civid??

It sometimes effects my voice and I get earache in the evening. A couple of months ago I looked at the back of my throat using a torch and discovered several creamy oval patches on both tonsils and a dangling polyp type lump on the right hand side.

I have been to a couple of ENTs. The second one was helpful and has put me on a waiting list to remove them under general anesthetic.  I am expecting the waiting list will be a long one! In the meantime, I am just hoping that they will go away by themselves?

Has anyone experience mucus retention cysts that have just gone away by themselves? I did prod the dangling one on the right with a cotton bud and iit burst . I wonder why the ENT can't do something similar with the other cysts? Ideally I don't want to go under general anesthetic or something so minor. 

I have had a baked bean shaped growth on my tonsil for about 9 months. Accompanied by earache and neck pain. It has grown quickly in the last 3 months and still growing. Have had a cyst diagnosed by MRI very recently. During a discussion with doctor in ENT, they say it is a cyst but will not 100% say it isn't cancerous. They are clearly not keen to surgically remove it but this does make me a little anxious as it is uncomfortable and requires pain relief. 
has anyone any experience or knowledge of cysts that turn out to be cancerous ? 

Hello my retention cyst has been pretty much the same size for a year. Most of that time it has been of a yellowish colour then is red other times. Its behind my right tonsil and  I also have multiple other red lumps by my tonsil and they are on both sides. Earache regularly and neck on right side can be painful and glands go up and down also on a regular basis. ENT last year told nothing to worry about. Additional oral checks inbetween dental appointments. Dentist not concerned.. But I still feel concerned there could be something underlying. I have started clearing my throat more and voice can be husky. Not made my mind up if to ask for a second opinion ?. Getting over winter virus might explain additional symptoms but I am into my 7th week. If anyone can advise please do. Thanks in advance.
