Hi, I'm 38 and for the last 3 months I have been experiencing abdominal pain mainly in lower left abdomen although it can radiate all over including upper abdomen. I have experienced looser bowel movements and nausea throughout with constant burping.
My GP referred me to the endoscopy dept who sent me for a colonoscopy. I have had this and thankfully cancer is ruled out, however they did still take a biopsy and also found evidence of diverticulosis which could cause diverticulitis. The details have been sent for tests and I have been advised to await the results from the consultant which could take 4-6 weeks.
My worry is that only one area has been covered, my other symptoms are also common with other areas such as the stomach and pancreas. 4-6 weeks is a long time so not sure if I should contact my GP in the meantime to discuss my concerns, I don't want to waste 6 weeks to get my results via post and be discharged from the consultant, also will the consultant be able to help with the other concerns or will I have to be referred elsewhere first? Is this the right cause of action?
A good friend of mine died at 49 of pancreatic cancer only weeks after diagnosis, so this is very much on my mind.
I'm sure by reading this you are probably thinking anxiety is also a cause, which is very much on my mind and something I need to deal with, but I can't get past getting my physical symptoms dealt with first.
