6 year old with possible leukemia, looking for advice

Hi there, I'm currently waiting on my 6 year old daughter getting an appointment at pediatrics to get some blood tests done, hopefully to rule out leukemia, the first doctor I seen was very dismissive and basically told me It was just parenthood anxiety, the 2nd doctor however took time to check over my daughter and properly examine her and it has been her who had referred us for more tests, her symptoms are

Sore legs (growing pains I was told)

Loss of appetite & sore tummy

Very pale looking with dark eyes

Bruising with the slightest touch

Gets tired easily

Sore heads and eyes.

I have read a few stories about growing pains being liked to cancers, but I'm just wondered if anyone else has experienced anything like this with their little ones and how long did everyone wait for the blood test?

  • Hello Tanya5

I'm sorry to hear that your daughter has been having some problems which have concerned you. Whilst it's natural as a parent to worry when your child is unwell it's also good to follow your instincts when you feel something isn't right.

I'm glad to hear that the 2nd Dr has referred her for some tests and hopefully these will bring some answers and reassurance for you.

I do hope that you don't have to wait too long for your appointment.

    Best wishes,
