Lump left side of neck?

Since last summer I've had a slight swelling on the left side of my neck, close to the collar bone.

The only person who has ever commented on it is my mum.  No-one else has.

Just saw a specialist who ordered an ultrasound and biopsy to exclude thyroid cancer.  He put something down my nose towards my throat and said it all looked symmetrical.   But even so he's still ordered the tests.

I feel like I'm on autopilot right now.

I can't manage this sort of thing

I'm sorry to hear that you're currently waiting for some tests to exclude thyroid cancer. It's understandable that you're feeling worried about things.

It's worth trying to remember that whilst thyroid lumps are very common, thyroid cancer itself is very rare. However it's sounds sensible that your Consultant has ordered these investigations to be sure that all is OK.

If you'd like to talk to someone about your concerns then you're welcome to call our team of nurses for some advice and support. They're available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

I do hope that you won't have to wait too long for your appointment.

    Best wishes,
