Bladder lesion removed and biopsy of red patches

Hi everyone

First post here.

Yesterday I was in hospital for a cystoscopy under general anaesthetic. They also took a biopsy of some red patches in my bladder that had been seen in a cystoscopy in late December.

They also cut out a small lump (that wasn't mentioned in the December cystoscopy) that they found yesterday.

I should have an appointment within the next 10 to 14 days to get the results.

I'm 36, and don't drink or smoke, and I've had no exposure to industrial chemicals, which give a heightened risk of bladder cancer. There's also no history of it in the immediate family.

Despite all these things that should be in my favour, I can't help but worrying.

Until yesterday, I'd focused my worry on the procedure (my first time under a general anaesthetic). But now that's done, my worry has turned to what it is.

What practical advice do people have about this period of waiting for a diagnosis? Do things you enjoy? Go for walks? Spend time in nature? Binge on Netflix?

Thanks

John

  • Hey John, welcome to the forum.

I'm glad all went well with the cystoscopy although I'm sorry you now have to endure the dreaded limbo until you get your results.

Anything that keeps you busy and distracted really helps in these situations so everything you've suggested already sounds good. I'm sure some of our members will offer their tips and ideas when they can as well but I just thought I'd share this little bit of information I've found online about waiting for news.

I hope it helps and that the results bring good news when the times comes.

    Kind regards,
