Large hard lump in groin

Hi,

I'm 28, F, and have had a large lump in my groin. It's painless and quite hard which is really worrying me in case it's cancer. I've been really tired lately but haven't had other side effects.

I went to the doctor yesterday and he said it feels like a lymph node but he doesn't know what's causing it to be enlarged, so I had blood tests today and am being referred for an ultrasound. Have to wait a few days for bloods to come back and maybe a couple of weeks for the scan.

The bit that I didn't remember tell the Dr (because he was a man and was acting really weird and awkward which put me off) is that a week ago I tried squeezing it thinking it was an under the skin boil and some liquid felt like it came out inside me, and some blood came out of my skin on top.

I'm going out of my mind with worry. Does anyone else have experiences where this has happened and it's all been ok? Everything I read online says my symptoms align with cancer and I'm losing sleep over it and just wanting to cry all the time.

  • Hello ShayeL,

I see from your post that you are worried about some symptoms you have.  The best thing to do is to wait for the results of your blood test and scan. It's also good to mention all of your concerns to your doctor in the next appointment. When you are worried that you may have cancer, it can be tempting to look for answers on an online, but this ends up increasing anxiety rather than making you feel better. Try to focus on other things, especially since this is affecting your sleep and your mood.

    I hope this is helpful,
