Confused about “update”

My Dad had a biopsy on a lump behind his ear (at the bottom) on his neck 2 weeks ago today. He also had an MRI on Friday. We had a call from his nurse today to let him know that the CT scan had broken and that as soon as it was working they would book him an appointment. She also said that once they have the results of a CT scan they will collate the biopsy, MRI and CT results and call him in to discuss - she also mentioned in the meantime a plan was also being worked on. Does this make sense? I thought you had to have the results given to you with each stage? i.e biopsy results and discussion and then MRI results etc etc.

The waiting game is killing us all.

  • Hi Maddie,

I hope things are going ok since you have posted this message. Soemtimes they take an informed view prior to the scan and have a plan in place just in case things need to be put in place - Its a good thing Maddie dont worry! Let me know how things go!

  • Thank you so much for replying to me Scott. It's just all so overwhelming and so much to take in too. Just to understand, it's the norm to just wait until he's had the CT scan before they give him all the results (MRI, biopsy etc.) also, do you know why he's having a CT? Surely the MRI and biopsy would give enough to at least diagnose him. Sorry! It's very confusing x

  • No worries Maddie, CT Scans produce X-Rays where as MRI's dont use this so they like to do both from my experiance to tick the boxes, its a good thing as they want as detailed picture as possible! try not to worry about it just try and ensure you dont waste time worrying, cherish genuine time together and dont spoil it by overthinking :) nothing more you can do at this stage x
