The 2 week Wait - Colposcopy

Hi all,

Thought I would post. I have been reading and searching the internet daily. I was referred for a colposcopy by my GP, after she found a 3cm lump covering my cervix. The reason i went to the dr's was, due to irregular bleeding. I know my body and track my periods religiously, so knew something was happening to my lady parts.

I went straight to the dr's, she examined me. Then her opening line was.... 'I did not expect to find, what i found', which made my heart sink. She looked really worried, which then made me worried. I actually thought it was a case of BV or maybe thrush.

Anywhy..she referred me. My appointment is this Thursday. I'm just really hoping it goes well. This has all come out of the blue.

My symptoms so far (it might help someone):

Irregular bleeding (pink blood)

Light watery discharge (smells strange)

Cramping during ovulation

Irregular bleeding after intercourse, then sharp pains day after

Thank you for reading :) Just felt the need to contribute to the forum after finding it really useful whilst waiting for appointment.

  • Hi Sadie and welcome to the forum.

I noticed you haven't had a reply yet so I just wanted to wish you good luck for Thursday and share some information with you that explains what will happen when you have your colposcopy. I hope this helps to put your mind at ease a bit but hopefully you'll receive some kind words of support and advice from our members soon as well.

    Kind regards,
