Confused about breast lump

Hi everyone. I'm wondering if anyone can offer any insight or experience into two differing opinions I've had from two different GPs!

I saw a private gp last week through my work as I noticed a lump in the inner lower part of my left breast about a month ago when I was in the shower. It's quite pronounced when laying down and it feels close to the chest bone. The gp said she could feel a small pea sized lump when I was laying down and recommended a referral to breast clinic. However, she couldn't refer me on the NHS so I had to see my gp which I did today.

My gp said she thought it wasn't in the breast but was on the costochondrial junction and probably just a vitamin D deficiency.....But she referred me anyway as the first gp had recommended it. I was lucky enough to get an appointment at the breast clinic for 3 days time. Doctor has ticked "not suspected breast cancer" on the referral form.

I'm really confused as there seem to be conflicting opinions. Does anyone else have experience of gps being wrong / giving conflicting information?

Thanks all xx
