Testicle lump

Hi everyone,

I am 20 years old. 3 months ago I visited the GP because of a hard lump I found on one of my testicles, about 1-2 mm in diameter on the side of the testicle. GP said it was nothing 'as it is too small' and said 'why are you feeling your testicles anyway' but I am still worried as it seems to be slightly bigger now. He seemed really dismissive about it so I'm afraid to go again. I've just gone back to university and this lump is making me so anxious I can't concentrate on my studies. My parents don't know and I don't want to worry them unless I have a diagnosis of what this lump is. Should I get it checked again or go get a private scan somewhere? Is it possible that this is just a normal growth?

  • Hi there,

I have two sons your age and I have been telling them for a few years to check their testicles regularly as this is the advice given to the sixth form boys in the school where I work. You are doing the right thing to check and as you are worried I would say definitely see another GP , just to be reassured apart from anything,  so you can get on with your uni life and studies. Your university should be able to help you to get an appointment.

    All the best

    Joy
