Slightly worried

Hi everyone!
I may be scaring myself and probably doesn't help with Dr. Google being so easy to ask about symptoms but this evening I have googled why I have come up with such awful bruises on my inner thighs just from itching and one of the first results was linked to leukaemia. It stated that bruising from things you'd think wouldn't bruise and also in strange places is one of the most common symptoms of leukaemia.
I'm 21 years old for reference, and after digging a little deeper with Dr. Google (not a good idea I know!!) I found some info on common symptoms for 16-24 year olds and 4 of the 6 most common symptoms of Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia, I am currently suffering with... headaches, joint aches, fatigue and bruising (I have as mentioned bruises from itching and also a bruise on the palm of my hand which is a strange place I think). Along with a few other symptoms that I've seen online like pinprick type rash, which I had a couple of weeks ago, and swollen glands, bleeding gums.

I understand that no one on here can diagnose me, of course, but all I'm worried about is that I'm being over dramatic and that the doctors won't take me seriously if I'm saying that maybe I'm slightly worried about this. All I'm look for is a bit of reassurance that it's fine to tell a doctor I'm worried, or maybe how I should go about it? Maybe you think I am reading too much into the internet and that I should tell the doctor my problems separately and maybe then they'll peice together what could be wrong without going worst case scenario straight away? Please let me know what you think is best to do :)

thank you,

  • You're not being over dramatic and you're quite entitled to see your GP about this. In fact you really must see your GP - so you can get this cleared up and off your mind.

Tell your GP every symptom you are experiencing all at once, rather than seeing your GP separately to discuss each symptom with the hope they'll put two and two together.

Dr Google isn't one to be trusted..!
