Lump on kidney but no biopsy yet.

Hello,

Today I saw a urologist and I found the meeting with him really confusing. He wasn't clear about the lump they have found on my left kidney even though I've had two mri's. He just seemed like they were looking into things. He talked about everything so casually and it was only when we said do you think it could be cancer did he sort of nod, but continued to say they want want to do ct scan and then they will decide what to do.

Does anyone know why they would not just book me in for a biopsy's as well as a ct scan now? im only 39 and I was first told about this find back in the beginning of Dec. Am I falsely hoding on to hope that it's not cancer even though he says it's a tumour (3.5cm big)

I can't breath I'm so stressed.

  • Hello Eviec,

I just wanted to welcome you to our forum and I hope that you will meet others here who have been in a similar situation before and that they will be along shortly to share their story with you. It sounds like the meeting with the urologist has left you with lots of unanswered questions. Perhaps you could try and get in touch with your specialist and ask to find out more about the process and whether you will need to have a biopsy as well as a CT scan.

Our nurses are available on this free number 0808 800 4040 if you wanted to talk things through with them. Their line is open Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm and they will be very happy to answer questions you may have.

Try not to worry too much if you can while you are waiting for definite answers. I know this is easier said than done but the best thing to do is to keep busy and distracted if you can during this long waiting game. It won't be long now until you find out more.

We're keeping everything crossed for you!

    Best wishes,

  • Hi

I'm in similar situation to yourself. I have a small lesion on right kidney and ovarian growths spotted on a ct scan at the end of November after a lap cholesystectomy. Gynaenocology where really speedy and I had an MRI and saw oncologist within a week in December was reassured and need retests in May (already got this appointment). Went to urologist appointment on 08/01/2020 and he was very casual, he showed me the lesion on scan and said he could not see the structure and I needed a biopsy. Said this would take 4-6 weeks was only in the appointment 10 minutes. 3 days later got appointment for biopsy last Friday. (I think the speed of this is due to my original upper GI surgeon as he is writing the reports to my GP and attending MDT meetings) waited on Friday from 10:30, was canulated and was cancelled at 16:00 , so back to waiting another date. It's so frustrating had to cancel all my work appointments at short notice to attend and I'm going to have to do this again. My employer is now getting less cooperative as I have had at least 8 appointments since November. I will not be protected from warnings until I get a diagnosis
