Any help would be appreciated.

I was supposed to be returning to see gynaecologist on Tuesday 21st January after my case had been discussed at MDT. On 29th December an ultrasound had shown a 14cm mass on ovary so had bloods done etc.  I've just received a letter saying I need to go Monday for a CT Thorax abdomen pelvis with contrast, and a U&E blood test and they will discuss me in the MDT again on Wednesday before seeing me on the 28th Jan.  please if anyone has had similar could you let me know.  I'm one of these people that can deal with stuff if I'm prepared and hates not knowing.

  • Hi emm-a76, I'm in the same situation as you, my ca125 was elevated so was sent for an ultrasound and same as you I have a mass on my  ovary roughly same size as yours so I was rushed to see a gynaecologist and am being referred for an mri, I'm not gonna lie I'm scared, it's all been a big shock to me because I originally went to my gp with a few heart palpitations, it's the not knowing and Im really getting myself into a state about this, so anyway I'm just waiting for the appointment now for the mri, have you had any symptoms with yours?.

  • Thank you for the reply, I hope you don't have to wait to long for your mri appointment.

ive been having pain in my side for a long time with reflux and bloating.  My drs have been doing blood tests for around 6 months trying to see if I have an autoimmune disease but all negative.  My bloods have been showing inflammation markers for most of that time and when I had ultrasound I got told after that I have enlarged spleen and liver too so I'm not sure if it's all connected.  Just need to know but it sounds like until they remove nobody actually confirms anything.

  • Thanks, I can't wait for my appointment I need to know what's it is, either way I'll be having a hysterectomy because I've also got some fibroids and I'm perimenopausal so I don't need my bits anymore, I've had reflux for a few years too but I've got a hiatus hernia, it's sounds like you've got something causing all the inflamation, good look with your mri, let us know how you get on won't you

  • Hello again,

I also have hiatus hernia.  I had hysterectomy 4yrs ago due to heavy bleeding and they found a fibroid, polyp and small cyst on left ovary.  Recovered from that and needed prolapse surgery a year after.

I have been seeing dr for a while with this pain and I also have enlarged spleen and liver.  I rang and asked nurse why after MDT they had decided to do chest/abdominal/pelvis ct and she said they just wanted to have a closer look as it was so big.  Luckily my blood markers have come back ok apparently but I'm still convinced they are checking something else.  To be honest I'm glad I finally know there's a reason I'm in pain and uncomfortable.  Not looking forward to waiting again after CT tomorrow again but I suppose compared to many I'm being dealt with quickly.

forgot to add I'm 43 and thought they would take time as usually they dismiss you by age for certain thing.

fingers crossed we both get good news!

  • Good luck with your scan today try not to worry too much, says me but you know what I mean, hope it all goes well.

  • Thank you for thinking of me.

  • So my follow up went well.  They think because my CA125 is within normal range hopefully not cancer but can't confirm until removed which will be within a few weeks.  I've since found out many people go on to receive a cancer diagnosis with normal ca125 so will wait until everything is confirmed before I get too excited.

    hope your ok?

  • Hi, glad it went well for you today, you're sounding more positive now, I ended up having a ct scan with contrast on Friday but I don't know the results yet so I'm still stressing I'm thinking of giving them a ring tomorrow but I'm scared of what they're going to tell me. Do you know when they're gonna remove it for you?

  • Jack12 i had a ct on 9th jan still no results 3 weeks later somone said we could be waiting 10 weeks as they are heaving them read in india i hope this is not true. 10 weeks to wait to see if you have cancer !!!!!!

  • Said will be very soon.  Ring them tomorrow the nurses will try to advise on how long for results.

waiting is the worst I'm 4 weeks in now and still not 100% I'm clear.

i was seen 8 days after ct.
