No results on biopsy now new problem

Hi everyone I'm new here and  I'm just looking for some advice and support really, so I apologise for the long post, on the 30th November I had an appointment with a dermatologist as I have been having recurrent ear infections and issues with the skin inside and out of my ear. Well my own dr thought it may be psoriasis but the dermatologist thought it may be something more troubling so she did a punch biopsy in my ear and said to await the results and we would sort out treatment then.

well I have heard nothing from them so after 4weeks I phoned my dr (no report) so then I phoned the the dermatologist they said the report was back and they would send it to my dr as they couldn't tell me over the phone....that was 2weeks ago and I still haven't heard anything, now I have found a lump in my breast it's very small and hard but I definitely haven't felt it before as I do regular checks. So I've phoned the dr this morning and have an appointment for tomorrow I feel like such a hypochondriac as I've been to the dr twice before due to breast issues that have turned out to be nothing  I'm 49 and since I hit 40 everything has gone to pot I've had recent knee surgery as my knee is useless and have degenerative disc disease in my back I'm still working as a cleaner but I'm overthinking things at the minute and have no one to talk to about it....it's all getting too much.

  • Hi,

It's good that you have an appointment with your GP. Hopefully they will also have the results from the punch biopsy. If they haven't received them, explain that the hospital said they would send them to the GP two weeks ago - your GP should then contact the dermatologist to see if they've been sent & perhaps gone missing along the way. Hopefully they haven't found anything worrying - I would have expected an appointment come through for you to go see them again if it was anything worrying.

I also hope your GP can help put your mind at rest regarding the lump you've found. Hopefully it's hormonal (are you in the peri-menopause)? Sadly we ladies get to an age where everything seems to disintegrate at the same time! Good luck tomorrow,

    Angie

  • Thanks angie yes I have had a few cysts in the last year and they have thankfully all been nothing to worry about.... I just think it's all been a bit too much worry with a lot going on.

I will definitely ask tomorrow as just after Xmas I got sent someone else's results for a cat scan (same surname) that was from the cancer nurse, it said the person had cancer but their recent results were clear, I have to say iit scared me to death just receiving a letter from velindre was enough... so I wouldn't be surprised if results haven't got waylaid, thankyou though I'm sure it'll work out and if not I'll deal with it I've always been a pretty positive person x
