Hi everyone
I'm 28 years old and I've recently found out over Christmas that I have a superior and anterior mediastinal mass. My aorta is wrapped around the tumour, and it's pressing into my vena cava which is what's causing my swollen eyes, face, neck, and blue veins to pop out all over my chest.
So far I've had several blood tests, a CT, PET scan and CT-guided biopsy. I'll hopefully be getting the results by this time next week at the latest.
I'm terrified as to what the mass will turn out to be, and whether or not it's spread. I've been told that because of the size of the tumour (around 10cm across) and because of where it is, it's more likely than not that I'll need to have chemotherapy, regardless of what it is.
In the meantime, has anyone else experienced this, & does anyone have any tips to ease the swelling? Or to help with the constant tiredness and shortness of breath?
Any tips or words of comfort would be so welcome right now. Thank you!
