Possible Bowel Cancer

Hiya,

my partner has had dull tummy pains, dull back ache, sometimes blood in stools, he's always tired and generally lack of energy and feeling down.
He went to the doctors and they have fast tracked him to the hospital on Thursday, neither of us are coping very well with the possibility of him having cancer and he is petrified they will tell him it's to late. I haven't slept properly in days, he's 39 and otherwise fit and healthy, they did bloods last weeek and all came back normal. Is there anything else it could be? Can they give an indication on the day of the hospital appointment?
any advice...

  • Was your partner meant to have the colonoscopy at the appointment?

    Drank all the prep etc?

It's good that bloods were normal, usually if cancer is around there would be some anaemia.

I have only ever had one virtual and that was after a normal colonoscopy couldn't get all the way round for some reason, they can't give a normal result until they've looked at 100% of large bowel.

    Good luck to you both

  • Well he was referred by the doctor and we got a letter for the first colonoscopy but no prep was provided so maybe that is standard procedure... he's got the prep ready for Fridays appointment.

im just worried as to why the procedure had changed, does that mean it's more serious. I'm so confused x

  • I am so happy for you! What a relief for you. amazong news. I really hope we have similar news, colonoscopy booked for Friday, can't wait to have it over and done with, this page has been a life saver for me, my anxiety flares right up but I come here and feel a bit better. Thank you all so much. Fingers crossed for a good result like yours, I'm made up for you tho xxx
