Second Biopsy after calcifications found in right breast

Hi everyone

I had a second biopsy done yesterday after calcifications were found during a routine mamogram.   I was told there was no cancer found in the first tissue samples but they hadn't managed to get any of the calcifications.   I went back yesterday for a second biopsy which they did in two areas as they said the calcifications are widespread.

They were pretty confident they have managed to get the calcifications this time so it's just a waiting game now for the results.

Trying to stay positive but it's difficult to not be worried.

  • Hi lesreg,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. This sounds fairly positive but I completely understand that the waiting game is often very difficult and unnerving.

I hope it's not too much longer for you to wait for the results.

And of course do use this forum as much as you'd like for any support from others - it's a very welcoming community.

    Wishing you all the best,

  • Hi Lesreg I am in a similar situation I had my core needle biopsy done on Wednesday 8th of Jan waiting for results as well. I was at the breast clinic on 26th of November had mammogram ultrasound and fine needle aspiration. They believe that the lump is benign fibroadenoma. They did the core needle biopsy to double check that is what they think it is and because I am 47 years old. It's good they are being thorough. I am trying to keep positive and busy. will be glad when I get the final results in. Thinking of you hope you hear soon. I should hopefully hear by next week sometime. All the best Lesley

  • The waiting is definitely the worst part.

    Fingers crossed for us both.

    xx

  • Hi Lesley I just noticed your name at the bottom of your post. It's funny we have the same name not many Lesley's going about. I hope all goes well with your results when you get them. I am trying to keep busy I am just working part time just now as I work in tourism and the museum is closed a couple of days a week. It's on my days off that I struggle trying not to overthink and worry. Christmas was a good distraction as well. I hope you are not too sore after the biopsy. Thinking of you keep me updated on how you get on. All the best Lesley
