Awaiting diagnosis

Before Xmas I was referred under the 14 day rule, previous had X-ray with a follow up X-ray 5 weeks later that showed up a mass on left lung, i was told at GP to expect 2 phone calls/letters for either test and outpatient appointment, I did receive a diagnostic test for CT which I attended on 2nd Jan, I chased up who would give me results to be told that my GP will give me results which can take up to 4 weeks and if I need to be referred on it will be done on day am given results, has anyone else been in this position not sure what to think, the waiting and the unknown is the worst thing, and not sure who this all works or what the procedure is thanks in advance for reading this

  • Hello Gordons
I'm sorry to hear that you've need a referral and some tests recently. I know that many members here will agree that the "unknown" is the worst thing. It automatically can lead to concerns and anxities.

It would probably be worth getting in touch with your GP and letting them know that you've not heard about the out patients appointment and asking if they can clarify what should/will be happening for you now you've had the CT scan. Hopefully they wlil be able to offer some reassurance about the next steps.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi

I'm in a similar situation at the moment myself, I've had a cough for months finally went to the Gp because it was getting worse and making me very breathless. Gp did bloods and listened to my chest couldn't find anything so referred me for xray, that was the 12th of December, results came back very quickly to say there is a shadow on my left lung, have a follow up xray on the 30th of jan which seems an eternity! I genuinely feel the timeline of tests and diagnosis are awful
