Waiting for cervical cancer diagnosis - cant eat

Hi,

I went to my GP after bleeding after sex. I had a clear smear in 2018 but he referred me to Colposcopy. When I had this done the nurse told me I have a large ectropion and bulky cervix but that she could see an area that she thinks is cancer. She referred me for an urgent MRI which I had a couple of days ago. I am now waiting on the results but expecting cancer.

The nurse said it is on the anterior lip of the cervix and she can’t feel mass behind it. Anyone know what this means? I assume it is a good thing.

I was wondering if anyone has any words of support or comfort? I am in such a state that I can’t eat anything and I have lost over half a stone in less than a week. I can’t of anything else than cancer. I have two small children. I keep imaging it has spread all over me and I will be stage 4. I am terrified.

I am so very scared.

  • Hello LadyAdur,

I'm also waiting for my results. The wait is horrific :( When did you have your MRI? x

  • It is so awful, the worst thing I have ever been through.

I had my biopsies last Thursday and an MRI on Monday. I will get my results in person, probably at an appointment on Monday.

I am terrified and have gone through all the worst case sinarios. I am exhausted and weak from the worry and not eating.

I would not wish this on anyone.

Good luck with your results xx

  • Hi

Im sorry to hear that you are having a rough time and the anxiety that goes with it is awful. I hope you get good results.

I too am rather anxious as I have many symptoms of cervical cancer and I'm currently waiting tests after seeing gp yesterday. My last smear test was clear so I'd convinced myself that I'd couldn't be cancer. The more I look into things the more it seems that people are being diagnosed with it despite having clear smear tests as is the case with you. Have you come across anyone else in the same position as you?

  • My GP almost didn't refer me as he said it was impossible for me to have cc with such a recent clear smear but this is just inaccurate. I have read quite a number of cases now where people have had a clear smear then CC. That doesn't mean you do though. It seems that sometimes the cancer is a type that grows higher in the cervix and don't get detected at smear. I will definitely be going back to my GP and making sure he doesn't continue with that belief. It could have been very bad for me.

I hope yours all comes back as nothing to worry about. Fingers crossed for you.

  • If you don't mind me asking have you ever had any smear tests come back with irregularities in the past?
I'm pleased that your gp referred you in the end. I pray you get the results you want and that it isn't anything too serious.
I totally understand your worry and anxiety, it's the 'what if' and the not knowing that is the worst.

  • Hi [@LadyAdur]‍

how are you have you had an appointments/results? I'm in the exact same situation as you, worried to the point I can't eat or sleep and I'm a mess. I feel like I'm shaking from the anxiety of waiting. I hope you got some good news x
