Doctor phoned and said I have ovarian cancer

Hi - im new and hoping someone might be able to help a little.

I was diagnosed with poly cysitc ovary syndrome maybe 15 years ago, I had several miscarriages and had a laprospscpy whcih was all clear, a few years later was told i had  adenamysis then endometriosis then recently a strangu;ated fibroid. I get back ache and often feel sick and ended up having my gall bladder out a few monthd ago as  scan to check my fibroids showed gall stones stuck in the duct - honestly - always something..

Work are totally fed up with me as there always seems to be 'something' wrong

I've often got horrid upset tummies especailly around period time and its been difficult but not unmanageable.

I had breast lumps a few years ago which were biopsied and all clear for cancer.  The specialist diagnosed 'cat scratch fever'  Id never heard of it.

I had my gall bladder out a few months ago and was feeling ok.  Doctor insisted on more bloods and I had a call before Christmas to say the CA125 levels were v v high and ovarian cancer.  I had been asked to go in and see them but when they phoned i had the schol run to do!? ad so i made him tell me.  I asked id=f it could be soemthing else and he said no but to be sure would need a scan.  I later looked online and the levels of CA125 could show endometriosis or several other things.

I have kept calm over Christmas and carried on as normal but obv feeling worried.

I have scan on 15th and imagine they will want to biopsy.

I previosuly refused a procedure where they wanted to fill me with water and put a camera inside me.  Im terrified as even having a smear i find very painful and frightening.  Ill have to get over this Im sure

Please would anyone be kind and share anything similar please?

thank you x

  • Hi I'm a newbie too just fell across this site researching other lady problems. Firstly what a strong lady you are to have gone through so much already secondly I'm inclined to agree with you on what I've read that CA125 doesn't necessarily mean you have ovarian cancer just a possibility. Thirdly the camera I've just had for the 3rd time yesterday really doesn't hurt I have painful smears and honestly it's nothing like them. I've had in the past where they used to fill you with air that's a lot worst than the water afterwards.

I just felt that I had to answer you as we have very similar symptoms, I really think you should have the camera with water it's over and done with very quickly didn't feel any discomfort either I've had the camera the old way and this is so much less invasive and gives a better picture you can watch on the TV screen too if you want.

Fingers crossed it is one of the other diagnosis x

Keep us updated good luck for your scan on the 15th x

  • Hi there thanks for replying and so sorry that you’ve been having similar.

It’s been going on for years and this is the first time and it’s the first time they’ve done the Ca125  level. Have they checked yours? I’m upset with myself for never asking for this before and now it’s 75 which I think is fairly high ( normal being 0-35)

i think they will suggest the camera or maybe a biopsy as they’ve known for years that there are lumps and ‘shadows’ and last time I had fluid on my ovary which they said was prob a burst cyst.

have they ruled out anything wih you (do you mind me asking?) please push for every test because mine has been going on for 12 years and this is the first time they have looked at markers in my blood blood- which have now prompted the ‘emergency’ scan
