Worried about primary bone cancer

Please can I have some advice.

In October last year I started with a lower back ache whenever I sat down, and sometimes when standing. This progressed late October to hip pain that travels from my hip/groin area down my thigh and to my knee. The pain is a very deep bone pain. I also have stiffness in my hip when I move it a certain way. For example, sitting cross legged on the floor its clear my right leg and hip will only go to a certain point. Almost like it locks at a certain point. I'm 24 and petrified its bone cancer. I haven't done anything to injure it. Its only on my right side.

I've been back and forth to different doctors who keep giving me different exercises to do. I had my first appt with a physio who said there was some stiffness in my hip but isnt overly concerned. Gave me exercises and said after a few sessions if no better they'll go from there. Why wait? I'm really worried. Why can't I just have an x ray.

Does this sound like bone cancer? Feel very ignored and very scared. I'm 24, nearly 25 year old female.

Thank you

  • Hi Adviceandhelp,

There's no way of knowing at this stage, but it's good to hear that your physiotherapist isn't too concerned. The best thing you can do is focus on the exercises and keep an eye on your hip. If it doesn't improve your doctor may look at doing further tests to work out what the problem is. Try not to worry.
