Esophageal cancer?

Hi all,

Hoping to have my mind put at somewhat of a rest more than anything else. My partner, who is 43 told me he had some discomfort when eating food for a couple of months which had gotten slightly worse recently, had also complained of a sore throat a few weeks ago, he's lost a bit of weight due to not wanting to eat as mich as it takes quite a bit of effort. I made an appointment with the doctor and she was very thorough which was great. She did mention ruling out Esophageal cancer (I knew this was a possibility but the doctor saying it made it seem very real) so she's ordered blood tests and then we'll go from there. She also mentioned that it could just be a case of acid reflux. My question is, has anyone else ever suffered these symptoms and it wasn't Esophageal cancer? He says he feels like there is a lump on the left hand side of his throat. I'm completely freaking out and can't concentrate on anything else but googling symptoms and I'm driving myself crazy just waiting for the blood tests.
