Waiting game!

Hello all, I am so sorry for all of you going through horrible treatment but wanted to just say what a wonderful, inspiring, positive and strong bunch you seem to be!

I am currently at the waiting stage and it is driving me mad with worry!

i found a swelling in my armpit 3 menstral cycles ago. Went to my gp and was told it was hormonal and wait to see what happens during my next 2 cycles. Well I have waited and waited and it has not gone away, I fact I can now see the swelling when I look at my under arm. So I went to the doctors on Friday and she said she could see and extra swell in the profile of one breast, the same breast also has a pink ish almost mole looking mark on it and it is the same side as the under arm lump. The gp said she could feel a solid line from by breast to my under arm but that it did not feel like a lump but rather a solid swelling? She has requested a 2 week referral so it is going to get checked but I am worried and have now developed a kind of dragging feeling from my armpit along my breast.

Do any of these symptoms sound familiar to anyone or am I just worrying myself, it would be lovely to get a simple yes I experienced that and you are not imagining it and a simple answer from someone other then the doctors “well ever case is different” talk

thanks to anyone that reads or replies, it means a lot x

  • Hello Titch37 and welcome to the forum

I'm sorry to hear that you've recently developed this lump which has led to a referral to the breast clinic. I know that many of our members here find the "waiting" a particularly difficult time. Not knowing what's going on can lead to imagining all sorts of outomces but please try to keep in mind that the majority of women referred to breast clinic with a lump aren't diagnosed with cancer. There could be lots of reasons for this swelling but as your GP has already said "every case is different"

Hopefully you won't have to wait too long for the appointment and the Consultant will be able to offer some reassurance when you attend. If you'd like to chat things through with one of our team of nurses beforehand then please do give them a call. They are available Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm on 0808 800 4040.

Keep in touch and let us know how you get on.

    Best wishes,
    Jenn
