Urgent Haematology referral

Hi

after recent test for myeloma my GP has said the urine test was normal but blood test abnormal. As you can imagine I'm very anxious, does this mean I'm suspected of having it? I've been told I'll be seeing a Haematologist within 2 weeks. If anyone has any information I sure would appreciate it.

    Hiya 

    It doesn't necessarily mean you have it but i understand the worry you have. Sometimes it can br other conditions aswell but thr process is to hopefully rule out cancer and they like doing this fast so thats normal. 

    I had and still have abnormal blood results when i saw haematology who ruled out any issues with me. Generally they will ask about whar bought you too thrm and talk about any symptoms you have had. They will probably also examine you and take more specalist blood tests.

    The wait is aweful!! Im back on a 2 week wait myself with the breast clinic so i know what you mean x

    I hate the waiting my appointment is friday so ill be drivibg myself mad again haha

    I think I made myself worse as I 'doctor googled' it and found that an abnormal blood test means it's positive which I found confusing.

    Ive been looking at google and youtube and everything haha its a nightmare! Its a good job i have more rational friends haha

    It depends on the blood tests they did to be honest? I know a little bit about bloods being a nurse but not as much as a haem would.

    All I know is that the test was for myeloma and the GP has said it's abnormal, all very vague. Thank you again x

    I hope everything goes ok for you and hope that you get sorted.

    I am counting down to my urgent referral which is still 10 days away.

    My bloods show high platelets and I've got protein in my urine. I had my first urgent referral cancelled back I  August last year with a request to repeat blood tests, those came back 5 points below reverral minimum, repeated again and they've jumped higher. Ive been told it's quite common to have high platelets with infections etc which was why they wanted repeats

    My next referral was cancelled on xmas eve as it was just with haematology and I needed a heamatology/oncology  appointment. So please check you've been booked into right clinic!

    I believe the first appointment is about your symptoms, possible tummy felt to check your spleen and a CT scan booked in if needed.

    Thank you for your message, all the GP said was I need to be seen my Haematology urgently. I'm just hoping it's will be ok, I feel better for posting on here.

    I have just come across this feed.

    Am currently waiting an urgent referral for my 3 year old to hearmatology after a high platelets blood result. The wait is absolutely overwhelming me with worry.

    Was told the referral would take 2 weeks and it has only been one week so far
