Possible vulvar cancer

Hi all,

I've had various skin changes on my vulva for about 3 years. Had a smear and a colposcopy done but all fine except being told I had HPV virus. Not had much issues with the skin changes till the last few months. Finally plucked up the courage to show my GP who has sent an urgent referral to the local vulva clinic as she thinks its possibly cancerous skin lesions. I'm so anxious about this now and I am dreading the fact I'll have to have biopsies done in such a delicate area.

Can anyone offer any advice, reassurance, experiences of the biopsy and whole diagnostic experience?

    Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read about this and it's of course perfectly natural how you're feeling. It's good that you have a referral as hopefully you'll now get some answers before too long.

    Try to keep busy and distracted if you can while waiting for your appointment, and then also while waiting for results. And make sure you use the appointment as an opportunity to ask any questions you may have too.
