Querying lymphoma

Hi
I should start by explaining what got me here, I had been experiencing random episodes of shortness of breath/ tight chest followed by vomitting, sometimes for over an hour and then hours of a high temperature despite paracetamol.

I went to my doctors following the 4th episode of this in the space of 4 weeks. I had queried a food intolerance however this would not correspond with the high temperatures.

i had my bloods done that morning and by lunch time the doctor had called me in again to have another examination as my bloods showed a very high wbc count and crp levels. She then referred me to A&E for chest and stomach xray.

long story short I was admitted to hospital for 6 days, had ultrasound which was clear, ct scan which showed I had enlarged lymph nodes on my lungs and scarring. From this I was referred to a respiratory specialist who advised it could be sarcoidosis however there was a remote chance of lymphoma.

i had a bronchoscopy and was brought in last week for the results. However unfortunately they were unable to give me any results as they were inconclusive. I had more bloods done another chest xray and lung function test done and was told I would have to have another bronchoscopy

I am currently awaiting my second bronchoscopy and due to have it tomorrow. I am very impressed with the attentiveness from the doctors and quickness of getting these appointments however feel worried due to me having mh appointments so quickly that there may be the risk of lymphoma.

has anyone experienced similar symptoms to this?

i am 29yr old female and have never smoked and otherwise healthy. The above has been my only symptoms.

Any help greatfully appreciated.

  • Hi Lee,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I'm sorry to read that you've been going through all this, although it's good to hear the medical teams have been helpful and that you've had your appointments promptly.

It sounds like there could be a number of reasons for the symptoms and so they're doing the tests to work out what's going on. I'm unable to advise on what it may be, but it's usually best to not assume anything one way or the other and to try to wait for the results before thinking about any potential answers or next steps for treatment.

I hope everything went OK with the appointment yesterday and I hope it's not too much longer to wait to find out more.

    Wishing you all the best,

    Ben
