Hi Jane,

Have the marks appeared on both your big toe nails? If so, it may be due to trauma (bruising under the nail) caused by ill fitting shoes. Melanoma under the nail (subungual melanoma) usually only occurs under one nail. Contact your GP & they will probably ask you to email them photos so they can tell if it's trauma or if it needs further investigation.

Hope you are fine . I would like to know if you had found out by now what was causing those black patches as my son is having the same problem on both his toe nails . Called Gp two weeks ago and still waiting for a referral. Hope everything went well for your partner . Best regards .
