Worried

Hi everyone, a few days ago I found a dimple/indent on my right breast. There’s no pain, no redness or other symptoms however I was anxious so I went too my GP today. She did an examination and said there was no lumps or bumps, I’m guessing that’s good? My breasts are quite large and very heavy. I’m only 18, I’m also pregnant. So I’m hoping it’s nothing, however she has referred me too the breast clinic for an ultrasound. I’m just looking for peace of mind, any one have any positive experiences with a dimple being nothing? My doctor thinks “It’s just the way the fatty tissue is distributed” . Thank you x

  • Hiya Chloe,

Hopefully I can reassure you. I have had a dent in my right breast for years - it's how the breast tissue lies under the skin. Due to having larger boobs (36G) they are heavier and the skin thinner so the tissue is more visible. I did go to my GP about it years ago (along with a knotty lump that I had felt)  She said it all felt like fiberous tissue but I had a referral to the breast clinic to be sure, and the ultra sound just confirmed fibrous tissue (all perfectly normal) please try not to worry too much, your boobs go through so many changes during pregnancy that they seem to take on a life of their own anyway.

    regards

  • Hi thank you for getting back to me! :) yes hopefully you’re right, my breasts are a size 38 H :|. I’ve been big for as long as I can remember. I have no pain in it or any other symptoms so I’m hoping it’s just that. She didn’t feel any lumps either but referred me anyway. I don’t have it in my other breast so I guess that’s why I was anxious. The dent is quite smallish, along the bottom of my right breast. God knows how long it’s been there I’ve only just spotted it. Thank you x

  • Hiya, no worries. I think they refer nowadays as part of the course. I definitely think it's all fine, especially considering your age too. Good luck and all the best with the baby Xx
