Given benign result 10 days ago only to find a new lump

After a benign result 10 days ago I'm so scared that I have 2 new lumps in my breast, they are  in a different area and these new lumps  do not resemble any likeness to the one previously found.

I'm so worried they have missed something

  • Hi Bumblebee

Were the lumps in the same breast or in the other one?  Chances are if it was in the same one them they would have shown up on the Mammogram and Ultrasound when you had those, however, whatever you do, don't just sit there and worry go back and see your Doctor who will have your results and be able to discuss the situation with you.

I had a mastectomy on 4th December on my right boob then on 7th December I felt a lump on my left boob.  I managed to get an appointment on the 9th to see my Doctor and have already had a Mammogram and Ultrasound on my left boob, now waiting to get the results on the 7th January, the same day I get pathology results on my right boob!!!!

The unknown and the waiting is the worst I have to say but please, please get it checked.  Wishing you all the best, Rosie

    Hi Bumblebee,

A very warm welcome to our forum. I am sorry to hear about the additional lumps that you have found, but agree totally with Rosie's advice. Were you given a contact number for the breast care nurse at the time of your hospital appointment? If so, I would suggest that you contact her rather than your GP, as this should get you back to the breast clinic sooner. If you don't have her number, then make an appointment with your GP.

How do the 2 new lumps differ from your last one and what tests if any, did you have when you attended the clinic? I have had 2 bouts of breast cancer in the past 10 years. I found the second lump just a year after my lumpectony. I have had a few false alarms sibce then, but they were all checked out after I let my breast care nurse know.

I sincerely hope that these lumps still turn out to be benign, but you are certainly better to get them checked out.

Please let us know how you get on. We are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

    Hi Rosie,

How are you recovering after your mastectomy? It sounds as if 7th January is going to be a momentous day for you.

I shall be thinking of you and hope that the results are satisfactory.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx

  • Hi Jolamine

I'm doing great.  Sore, swollen and today I feel as if I've been hit by a truck for some reason but I'm doing great.  The wound is healing well and I've started using bio-oil to help that along.  I cannot touch the area myself though yet but my better half is being amazing and doing it for me (bless him, this really is a situation that affects you both isn't it?).  I'm back to walking 15,000 steps a day spread over two walks with Senyta morning and evening and then the general pottering during the day.  Throughout all the past couple of months our Son and Daughter (with nearly 3 year old Grandson) have been visiting, Matthew and his wife left Saturday night and our Daughter wanted to return on 28th until the 4th but I said no more.  Whilst it is lovely seeing them, it's not "the norm" and as such a constant reminder of the situation I find myself in, plus it increases the work load dramatically whilst not allowing for any down time.  I am absolutely shattered and just need some time for the two of us and our dogs.  The first thing my Daughter said was "don't you wnat me there"?  I tried to explain that as much as I wanted her here I just need to clear my ever increasing muddled head and I'm not getting time to do that.  I felt so bad at the time but am relieved now.  Whilst I've not yet relaxed as trying to get on top of the housework, washing, ironing that happens when you have visitors I'm hoping to start that tomorrow (watch this space...........).

I cannot wait to get the results but equally happy in "oblivion" for a little while if you get my meaning?

How are you doing?  Did you have a nice Christmas?  Any plans for tomorrow night?

    Best wishes

    Rosie xx

    Hi Rosie,

I know exactly what you mean about having family to stay. It's lovely to see them, but it does create a lot of additional work. I have Lymphoedema in both arms, so have been told that I am not to even lift an iron, with the result that my poor hubby has taken this chore over. He was diagnosed with heart failure at the beginning of last year, so is no longer fit to do all the work that I am not supposed to do.

We muddle through together as best we can nowadays, but cleaning the house,  planning extra meals, staying up later than normal, doind extra laundry, etc, all take its' toll. It wouldn't be so bad if you could get some down time throughout the day, but when the family are here it is full throttle continually.

I am glad to hear that your wound is healing well. Just be careful with the Bio-Oil. I ruined a brand new leather suite with this. I always had a towel under me when applying it, but some of it must have seeped through. Fortunately, it was still under guarantee and a specialist firm of cleanners were able to restore it to the original state.

If you are up to walking your 15,000 steps a day already, you are doing very well. However, I hope that you manage to make some time to relax now that you are on your own again. I am sure that your daughter will understand why you didn't want her to stay over the New Year. My family think that if they help out when they are here, there is less strain on us, but they don't see the advance preparation for their visit and, the effort we have getting everything back to normal after the've gone home. I really do love to see them, but I also love to see them go.

I am doing well thank you. I have at long last got an appointment through for my brain scan. After a 12 week wait, I am going on Saturday, 4th.  Fingers crossed that my 'turns' are the result of medication and not something more sinister.

There is a lot to be said for staying "in oblivion" for as long as you can before your results come through.  You will however, feel better once you know exactly what you are dealing with, have had your surgery and start on treatment - you're more than half way there, so chin up!

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
