early 20s + possible bowel or ovarian cancer

I’ve been unwell for over a year with a constant upset stomach, bloating and have lost 3 stone. no doctors listened to me until 2 months ago. GP ordered bloods and it came back that my inflammation was nearly 100 so I was referred to gastro consultant. It’s all gone quick since my appt with the consultant, all my blood documents said ‘check for malignancy’ which was scary in itself. Then they sent me an appointment letter for the following week for a CT scan which is much sooner than they said it would be. maybe they found something on the bloods? ct scan was yesterday and now I’m waiting anxiously for the results. radiographer assistant asked if I’ve been waiting a long time like 6+ weeks for scan since it’s busy time of year and went quiet when I said I waited a week. Trying not to panic, does anyone know how soon they’d be in touch if they found something? sorry for rambling and hope this is in the right place

  • So sorry you are feeling anxious. Try not to worry, you have not received a diagnosis yet and your symptoms could be something simple.

Scan results may take a week, it depends how busy the labs are. But doctors could ask you to do other exams to be able to diagnose what the problem is accurately, so it may take a few weeks until you are given a diagnosis.

The good thing is that you are being followed by medics and soon they'll be able to diagnose and offer treatment if any is needed. I know this is a very stressful time, but try to keep busy to keep your mind off the worry.

Wishing you all the best outcome.
