Urgent referral for suspected ovarian cancer only 30

Hi there,

this is my first time posting and just looking for some advise apologies in advance for the long post. so for a good few months maybe longer I have had bleeding in between periods and also during intercourse aswell as pain. I have also had a pain in my tail bone since March this year which is constant but I have put it at the back of my mind.. anyway the symptoms continued and then I have lost over 2stone since May without really trying (although I did have some stress which I told the doc about) I then started having to pee a lot and went from having severe diarrhoea a few months ago to then having constipation. I then started about 3 weeks ago having severe pain in the bottom of my back travelling round to my front. I also began to feel full and struggle to eat a full dinner now  That and also feeling extremely tired all the time I took a pregnancy test which came back negative. I decided I should make an appointment which I had last Monday I was expecting to be in and out. Me and my partner have been together 13 years and split up for a couple of months in the middle of the year.. I didn't have an another partner but he did so I asked docs to do some tests incase in was sexual health (mortifying but needs mist) anyway although she form the test she felt my tummy asked about my symptoms and sat me down to tell me that she was referring me urgently and that it was for suspected ovarian cancer....  I got blood tests that day and also had a phone call when I got home from the doctor to say they had put in an urgent referral and I got a phone call from the hospital straight after and have the hospital tomorrow morning for the ultrasound I was in complete shock and still am to be honest.. like I say I am only 30ywars old and have two young children..

can anyone give any advise on whether I will be told tomorrow if they see anything or whether I will have to wait... I think I could have phoned up for my test results yesterday but I was too scared.. also I was going to go on my own tomorrow as don't want to put anyone out but was told I was better to go with someone.

again sorry this post is so long and so in depth I don't like doing that but just don't know where to turn any help or guidance would be appreciated so much as I don't know whether I am worrying over nothing

  • Hi J,

I've been thinking about you since I read your post yesterday. How did you get on with the ultrasound?

I too had a sexual health appointment just before Christmas and mentioned bleeding (post menopause). I'm in my 40s. I was given a very fast appointment with a consultant, who I'm seeing this morning. Like you, I'm hoping it's nothing. I'm a single mum with a child at school.

Hope you come back to let us know how you are. Xxx

  • Thank you for this, I attended the hospital yesterday for the ultrasound and everything seemed to be okay apart from what looked to be a cyst on my right ovary. Because it was slightly larger than normal they want to keep an eye on it and I will go back in 6 weeks to see if it is away she told me 80% of the time it is nothing to worry about..

However I then had my internal examination at the doctors today and she said that although my cervix were smooth they didn't feel normal?? And that there was lots of blood coming from my womb so she was unable to take tests. This was very strange becuase the blood is not coming out. She has gave me a course of anti biotics to attempt to stop the bleeding then I have an appointment for Friday next week to see if the bleeding has stopped and if they can investigate it further..

she seemed to be a bit flustered and told me there was a couple of good things including the CA125 coming back okay.. but then she is concerned about the blood and my cervix not being "normal" I am unsure to what that even means. And one part of me thinks I overthinking everything and that there is nothing wrong and the other part of me has dread and a feeling in my gut that something just isn't right. I have took reassurance that my blood came back okay though.

  • Hi lovely , read your story and wondered how you got on ? I am experiencing very similar problems x
