Hi all,
My nan had a biopsy for suspected skin cancer on her foot 3 and a half weeks ago. Not had results back yet. She's in her 90s and has very thin skin and prominent veins-the biopsy site doesn't seem to be healing at all. Now on second course of antibiotics-it was infected for sure at one point (pus and smell) but that has now gone but she is still in so much pain with it. Been extremely painful since she had it done and swollen. Could be cellutis? Had docs and nurses see it but haven't really said much and just prescribed antibiotics-which got rid of the pus but not the swelling/pain.
I'm worried, surely it's not supposed to hurt this much or take this long to heal? I know the leg/foot area takes longer to heal but it's not any better after 3+ weeks and still swollen-we had no indication it would be this big of a deal when she had it done. The area taken for biopsy is quite big (I'm not sure exactly how much they took) and there is just a hole (put dissolvable sutures in but by the looks of it they've come out).
I'm worried due to her age about infection etc. The cancer is probably unlikely to spread but the only reason we had a biopsy was because she knocked her foot a couple times and it spurted crazy amounts of blood each time. Otherwise we would've just left it but it really seems like we have made it worse. Any advice please? Thanks.
