Help me.

About 3 months ago I started with a dull ache in my right knee, followed by some shooting pains in my shin. Then almost a throbbing feeling in my thigh. I am 28 and this is becoming a bit worrying now. The pain has worn off from when it first started, but the aches still comes and goes, but it is now starting to ache in my left leg. I haven't injured myself, so I know it's nothing to do with that. Could there be an explanation?

Thank you

    Hi,

A warm welcome to our forum.

Chriss is right. You really need to see your GP to start the ball rolling. Chances are that your GP may refer you for an X-ray to see if there is a simpler explanation than you seem to be expecting. Both of my knees started giving me a lot of pain quite suddenly a few years ago.

My GP sent me for x-rays and then referred me to an Orthopaedic consultant. He informed me that I needed both knees replaced because they were so eroded by oste-arthritis. You are a lot younger than me and, I wouldn't expect you to have this sort of problem at such a tender age. However, this is not impossible. Do you do any sports which might have caused the bone to wear quicker than normal?

I had both knees replaced and, haven't looked back since. Recovery was hard, but well worth it. Instead of worrying about this pain unecessarily for months, please make an appointment to see your GP as soon as you can after Christmas.

Please keep in touch and let us know how you get on. we are always here for you.

    Kind regards,

    Jolamine xx
