I'm sorry you are having to wait so long for your appointment. Unfortunately the festive season will play a small part in the delay - also, your hospital were probably working on how quickly appointments are at their hospital - they will have no idea as to how long the waiting list is at another hospital, especially one so far away. 

All I can suggest is that you contact the new hospital & ask if there is a chance you can get an earlier appointment - tell them you are happy to take a cancellation (as long as they can give you a certain amount of warning to allow you travelling time etc).
