Lump won’t stop hurting

Hi ladies,

Two years ago I found a lump in my breast I went for a biopsy, they said it was just a cyst and that it would shrink and disappear, just recently I've been having a lot of pain in the same breast, I went back to the doctors a few months ago and she said just put anti-inflammatory cream on it but it's not even touching the pain, I've checked it again this morning and found the lump is a lot bigger and very painful, but the cream is not doing anything and it hurts to even wear a bra, or to not wear one either, I'm not sure what to do?
Thanks in advance for any advice,

  • Hi there and welcome ..

Well I'd do just one thing really .. find another Dr...

Most lumps are o.k .. but if you've got pain and it's growing , it shouldn't be ignored... hopefully there's more G Ps in the practice... but please try not to keep prodding it or rubbing as that could irritate even o.k lumps ...  good luck, let us know how you go... Chrissie...

  • Thank you,

yes going to ring on Monday see if I can get an appointment to see a different doctor, it's just so painful it's making me worry, and I no this is really random, but I get really itchy armpits when the lump starts hurting do you think it could be linked?
    Thanks

  • Hi there ..

Sorry I'm not medically qualified.. but what I have learned on here, is symptoms can be lots of different things .. even to the itching maybe due to a reaction from any soap etc .. or lots of other things too ..

If you Google spytoms they always give you a worse case scenario... and that makes us even more scared .. so try , I know it's a big ask .. to think of today .. as no amount of worry will change things any way .. and just go with the next G P taking you seriously.. but even though the norm is a two week refural .. don't panic .. that should be the case for every lump ..

8.5 out of ten lumps are benign... my first 4 call backs from mamorgrams over the years were fine... so get that next appointment .. I had a lump like yours and it's still in left boob .. the same 20 years on .. but should always be checked ... so the odds are good .. fingers crossed .. Chrissie x
