Confused and scared

Hi, brand new to this and hoping for help. Basically, I had an episode of what was thought to be acid reflux so was sent for a barium swallow. All clear but afterwards stomach pain and upset. Previously suffered from IBS when I was younger so doctor put it down to that.

even with medication it didn't overly settle, stomach pains but in different places, different sides and all over. They come and go. Mild constipation then mild loose stools (sorry tmi). Nothing major but a week ago my GP thought she could feel a mass in my right abdomen. Said possibly ovarian cyst or constipation. Did blood tests, including CA 125. Saw her yesterday and all tests clear apart from my CR Protein being raised to 23. Now this has been raised since 2014, it goes up and down but always above 10. It shouldn't be above 10 and means inflammation in the body. She felt my tummy again and said she could feel something but it had moved to my umbilical area and had gotten smaller, in the week since I saw her previously. She is sending my for a CT scan but her behaviour scared me. She said let's see if anything is there causing the raised CR protein. I am terrified now. I also had a CA 125 test in the beginning of the year, normal at 14 and had an ultrasound, right ovary looked fine slightly small, left ovary couldn't see, womb fine small amount of fluid in cervix. Gyne did internal said all ok.

  • Hello Scaredycat121,

A warm welcome to our forum. This sounds like an incredibly stressful time for you but it's good that your GP is being thorough and ordering all these tests. I hope you won't have to wait too long for the CT scan and that you get some definite answers then. In the meantime, try not to worry or anticipate what this might be and avoid looking anything up online as this will only exacerbate your worries. The best strategy that is often mentioned here is to keep busy and distracted if you can while you are waiting for these important results.

Wishing you the best of luck for your scan and keeping everything crossed for you that everything turns out to be fine.

    Best wishes,

  • Hi, thank you for your reply. I am trying not to worry but I suffer from anxiety so it's difficult. Plus my tummy is sore in the one spot and I get random stabbing sharp pains but all over and burning in my upper stomach.
I was hoping someone on here might have some insight, I know no one can diagnose. But if it was something nasty would it hurt or move places and go down in a week?

I am getting constipated too, not severe but often.
