Feeling scared

Hey, 

Recently I’ve been feeling under the weather and have been to the doctors to get checked out as my tongue is white and have been getting pains in my sinus, they have said that I have a sinus infection and have given me a nasal spray to use twice a day, I’m starting to get scared that I have throat cancer as I’ve been having a hoarse voice for a few days, the doctor said that it is nothing to worry about.

i do suffer with anxiety a lot and get worried about symptoms and ultimately think the worse case scenario. I am really scared :/

    Hi,

    I can tell you from experience that sinus drainage makes you hoarse. It happens to me often, try taking some honey or gargling with warm salt water; it will help. Also drinking lots of fluids will help break up the drainage. 

    I also have medical anxiety and I have learned to accept what the doctors tell me, but, if you are still experiencing troublesome symptoms, ask to see an ear, nose and throat specialist.

    I have also been in the same situation. I was told I had a sinus infection.

    I turned to Dr Google who convinced me I had a brain tumor. 

    Don't worrie. And don't google. Sinus infections are very common and Dr's known what they are talking about. 

    Mine took about 4 weeks to clear up completely. So try not to worry. And like Laura said if your still worried seek more help.

    thank you guys, I’m 24 years old and I think I worry a lot because i also get it from my parents, the doctors reassured me that if I continue to use the nasal spray then my symptoms should subside in a few weeks, if not then I need to go on antibiotics, my hoarse voice has only been a few days so maybe I’m being over the top, my sinus pain comes and gos, thank you for the advice xx

    Hi guys, 

    just to give you an update, still feeling quite anxious, been 1 week now and my voice is still hoarse, have also been getting headaches and dizziness, lightheaded and I contacted my GP, they said it was normal with a sinus infection, other then that no additional symptoms, just still feeling scared :/ 

    GP also said that she is sure it’s not cancer as no warning signs have shown, said because of my age it’s quite rare and most likely cause is acid reflux
