Biopsy tomorrow

Hello all!

I don't know where to begin, but here goes!

I am 26 years old, and I gave birth to my baby boy almost 6 weeks ago- an amazing moment! One week later, I found a lump above my left collarbone. I went to the doctors and he asked about my family history of lymphoma, or if any, I told him my sister had it when she was 14 (she is now 21) and was in remission. Well that kick started everything. 3 loads of blood tests all slowly rising and "in line with someone who had given birth recently) and a hematology referral.

2 weeks ago I was examined by the consultant (ultrasound week before) who confirmed I had 15 lumps all in my left neck, however only one lump was of concern measuring over 2cm. In that time I found one on my collarbone also but this doesnt seem to be of concern(although I have heard they are to be VERY concerning). Anyway, he sent a referral to ENT and I went last thursday, who advised he wouldnt do the biopsy that day under local because if the location he advised to go under GA.

My biopsy is tomorrow, and been told to expect results within the next 2 weeks. I'm all over the place, not had many symptoms, and if I have they have been in line with giving birth (flu like aches) back ache, tiredness etc. However I have had a persistent cough on and off from being 23 weeks pg, and last month or so right shoulder blade is painful, butvsides with anti inflammatory.

Dreading the outcome if I am honest, unsure how to feel. My sisters lump was in the same place and all her bloods were also fine whilst being tested. It's a bit like deja vu all over again :(

So a xious about everything x

  • I know exactly what you're going through, we (my husband to be precise) had his biopsy on Friday so we should hear back soon. His lump was in the same spot as yours plus some more in the chest (he got a ct scan done). The dr was pretty confident it's lymphoma but it's not confirmed until it's confirmed so we still have a bit of hope left. But if it is then we'll just have to get through it, worse things can happen.

Good luck tomorrow, please try not to worry too much remember if it is that you know from your sister's experience it's totally curable!

  • Thankyou for taking the time to reply!

I hope your husband has some good news. They have said to me they are treating it as lymphoma but like you say, until they confirm it you just dont know. Very *** timing over christmas! But we will get through, even more so now my little boy is here. And yes, very curable. My anxiety is running me ragged though unfortunately with every bloody scenario! It just never ends, does it. Hopefully after tomorrow things start to look up! X

  • Just an update. Biopsy done

When opened up there where mor slumps than first discovered and instead of one being removed, I had two removed around grape and walnut size.

I asked the doctor his thoughts and said he cant confirm nut he said it looks like it is lymphoma.

Really hope I'm not in limbo now I would like to know exactly what I'm dealing with now. X

  • Do you know what's made him suggest that?

We're in the same position the dr was highly suspicious of it but of course until the biopsy confirms it we don't know. I just wonder what is it that they see there that makes them so sure.

  • I think it was the way it looked. Will know more on e results are through at least. It's a *** wait isnt it. How long have u been waiting for results? X

  • It's only been since Friday but we're quite lucky, the dude at the ENT was going to wait for the results and then refer us to the haematologist but the gp obviously had no idea (I don't think the communicate) and referred us yesterday so that probably shaved off at least 2 weeks of waiting which is a positive!!
