?? Lymphoma

Hiya,

So around june time i was cleared by haematology with symptoms of nightsweats, fever, feeling rubbish, itching skin, some inflammation in blood markers. I had blood tests and a contrast CT scan. No bone marrow biopse or other tests as the haem said it wasnt necessary at that time despite having pain after drinking alcohol and hodgkins can only be diagnosed by biopse so i felt a bit rushed out at the time.

Fast forward to now, still feeling lousey, night sweats every so often. Still getting itchy skin at times, even had a random allergic type reaction that landed me on steroids for 3 days, i now also have a marble sized lump under my left arm but only been there now 2 week. Ive also had a raise in some i flammation/ infection markers steadily from jan from 10 to 49 which was august. I had more bloods today to see what the levels are doing and will pop in to discuss the results when they are avaliable, do i just wait on the results then discuss the lump or do i make a new appt? Any advice would be great. Or anyone experienced being discharged and then needing to be referred back to haem??

Thank youuu xx

  • Your bloods can still be good with lymphoma. It's so frustrating to hear people get fobbed off like that. Definitely discuss the lump and insist on having a biopsy if you're worried about lymphoma, better safe than sorry! Explain your concerns to the gp and see what they say...why did they re-refer you back to the haematologist? Sorry if I didn't catch it.

    Good luck

  • Hi,

    Thanks for the response!!

I was just asking if anyone had been discharged by haem and then referred again, im still under my gp at the moment, i've had that much go on this year i dont know which way is up and my bloods are off anyway so im a bit frustrated which is why i asked for new bloods which i had done this morning as they hadnt been checked since august even tho an infection/inflammation marker was double from admission to discharge!! Its all so odd and now this lump im just tired of hospitals at the moment and just want answers.

    Sorry for the ramble xx

  • I don't have any experience in that sorry I just messaged you because I was in your shoes not long ago waiting to find out what's going on etc. and it's been the worst time ever so I can relate to you.

Share your concerns with the gp and ask them what you need to ask. My advice would be write down your questions and take a note pad to write down what they said especially if he suggests something serious (I'm not saying they will, just going by our own experience with our very 'uprfont' gp) you probably won't remember much so your notes will come in handy later on (and for when you want to google things haha)

Unfortunately the wait is the worst part and there's no way to get round it:( you should get your blood results soon so hopefully you won't have to wait too long to see your gp?

  • Thank youuu :)

Ill probably make an app on friday and tell them about it then and hopefully bloods will be back by then. I've been fobbed off a few times this year to be honest probably because im young and have that anxiety label along side of bipolar but no matter how much i tell them its stable and been so for over two years some doctors still say its anxiety. I am definently going to ask about a biopsy on friday. I keep thinking maybe my body is making up symptoms but with the allergic reaction a few months ago, possible infected appendix in august, stroke like symptoms a few months ago there is something going on! Again sorry for the ramble.

I am sorry you have been in the same shoes recently, the waiting really is the worst. I wouldnt wish the worrying on anyone :/ i hope things are looking good for you ??

    Thanks xx

  • Oh dear. You've not had it easy then!

My hubby just got (not yet confirmed) diagnosed with lymphoma but it's fine we'll get through it worse things can happen. It will be fine.

I think they can try to fob you off but if you have clear evidence such as a lump or inflamation then they can't just ignore it! We were very lucky with our gp but it does happen you see people on this forum talking about it a lot only to be diagnosed with something serious in the end. Be assertive and share your concerns.

  • Sorry to hear about your waiting still to be confirmed but alas ive heard lymphoma is very treatable !

Thank you for the reassurance that i do have a reason to push to be reassessed.

I hope your hubby has more detailed anawers soon.

    Thanks xx

  • Hiya

Just an update, started feeling like my neck is swollen along with the lump, doctors say monitor for the next two weeks see if ive got something brewing and if no change then will be referred to get the lump checked out properly which seems fair if it is still there then. Got some of the blood results back and again some of them are off like folate and platelets which are low and high respectively. So just a waiting game at the moment.

Hope you are getting answers soon x
