CT scan find

I had a CT scan to check my lungs and they've found a 1cm mass in my breast. Not exactly what I went into hospital for today.

Apparently it's on the edge of the image, but I don't know if that means the side of my breast or not as I don't know how far across my body they scanned, and as my breasts fall to the side of my body when I lie flat I guess that it could mean the centre of my breast tissue.

I can't feel or see any lumps. No pain beyond normal period related sensitivity.

I've been referred to the breast clinic next week for a mam and ultrasound.

I'm stunned and scared and frustrated. I like to know specifica but no one can tell me any more.

Anyone had any experience with surprise CT scan findings?

Welcome to the forum Polly although I'm sorry about the surprise finding on your CT scan.
Hopefully some of our members who have had similar experiences will pop by soon to offer their support and advice but I just wanted to share some information I've found online about what to expect at your breast clinic appointment next week.

Hi Polly,
I haven't had surprise CT findings but I have had findings that required further testing. Luckily, the futher tests proved there was no issues. I have also been recalled after a mammogram and had to have a needle biopsy; that also proved to be no issue. I think alot of what we go through are tests to rule things out so try not to get too worried. Take it one day, one appointment, one test at a time.

I'm going to spend the day visiting garden centers and moaning about the crowds. That should take my mind off things.
