So worried about shadow found on husband's lung

hello sorry im new to this chat but not new to all these awful feelings my husband had throat cancer back in 2018 had radio and chemotherapy and thankfully beat it. we got married and now im 5 months pregnant:) however for about 7 weeks hes been getting a pain in his chest which gets worse when he laughs sneezes or coughs so he asked for a chest xray monday he got a call from the doctor and has a shadow on the bottom of his lung and could be related to the cancer so the doctor has referred him tona specialist this has broken us both and im absolutely terrified im going to loose him the waiting game is so hard x

  • Hi there,

I'm so sorry you got some potentially bad news. I can imagine what you're going through, we're just waiting for my husband's results. The gp suggested lymphoma but also said that there are a number of things that don't suggest lymphoma so we're in total turmoil. He's got a biopsy on Friday and had a ct scan last Friday so hopefully we'll know more by then.

Waiting is the worst there is no denying that. It does get a bit easier, after the initial shock you have to learn how to keep going because that's the only way to survive this. You need to stay strong and believe that everything will be fine. He has a chance, not everyone does. You guys have been through it once before and you survived so believe in the strength you both have. You won't lose him just like I won't lose my husband! Everything will be fine you will get through it whatever it is.

Remember nothing's confirmed until it's confirmed.

    Good luck and best wishes,

    Honey_M

  • oh bless you its an awful feeling isnt it and made even worse by google something i so shouldnt of done but i just cant help myself. ive called our mcmillan nurse who has pulled our appointment forward to tomorrow so hopefully tomorrow we will have a clearer understanding of exactly whats going to happen. ct scans will determine what is going in hun so hopefully you will definitely get some answers friday and i have everything crossed for you that it turns out to be something less serious. im always here if you want to offload its a scary time and your not alone but it sure feels like it xx

  • Googling is the worst - everyone says that but everyone does it. it's like binge eating. You do it until you can't take any more. And then after a while you do all over it again.

It's good that you've got your appointment so soon! I'll keep my fingers crossed for you and your family.

I'm worried that the ct scan won't give us any more information until the biopsy is done which means even more waiting and worrying. I don't know enough about it.

  • ct scan should give them the information they need hun the biopsy richard had came back clear it was the ct scan that picked his cancer up first time round so hopefully friday you will get all the answers you need any get on with starting treatment. where is your hospital x

  • well let's hope there will be no treatment required, it may not be anything serious after all : )

it's in Scotland. Ok so hopefully we should know a bit more on Friday...I'm really anxious!!!

  • same here hun we have our appointment tomorrow to check his throat for his old cancer then they are going to talk about the xray and next steps im hoping its not serious but dont think were that lucky xx

  • just want to say good luck for tomorrow fingers crossed for positive news for you. weve been referred for urgent ct scan managed to look at xray and 2 small nodes on left lung lets hope this is possible that weve caught it early xx
