Lung or bone cancer

Hi I’m 26 I smoke. About ten weeks ago I went for a MRI because I had pain in my neck and lower down the found a lump about the size of a cherry I had to wait ten weeks for an appointment a follow up I went today and they said it could be cancer but they think it’s benign I have done a lot of research and if it is cancer more then likely it’s spread from my lungs I feel like I’m going out of my mind with worry please if anyone can shine any light on this I have no pain I have a little cough nothing that causing any problems I feel fine in myself they only change I have noticed if I’m in work and sat at my deck I get a act in my right shoulder or if Im on my phone im am right handed. I just want to know is it likely I do have lung cancer or spinal cancer.

  • Hi Maryannestar and welcome to the forum.

Unfortunately no-one here can say whether or not you have cancer but our members will understand what you're going through and will hopefully be along soon to offer their support and advice.

In the meantime try not to do any more research if you can, especially via Dr.Google, as this will only make your worries and fears worse.

We'll have our fingers crossed that the lump is confirmed as benign Maryannestar.

    Kind regards,

  • Just thought I would say hello as I'm going through a similar thing. I don't have any pain at all but had an MRI to check something to do with my hand (which turned out to be carpal tunnel) but the MRI showed up two growths in the verterbrae of my spine. It looked like I had swallowed to perfectly round coins on the MRI - they were bright white! The response of the doctor was "they may be benign or they may not" and I would need a CT scan. Tomorrow I find out the results of it. I am absolutey out of my mind with worry and have no doubt been reading all the same things you have, so I completely empathise. The not-knowing is so all-conusming and terrifying. What are your next steps, do you have a follow up? Have you already had a CT scan? What happened in between the initial discovery and being told it was likely benign, did you have more tests? Sending good vibes your way!
