Large Neck Lump - Blood Work Clear

Hey all.

Noticed a large (inch and a half across and deep), solid and painless lump on my neck, which has been there about a month. Didn't even think about it untill the other day. Went to the GP who wanted to do blood tests. Blood tests came back today all clear and now booked in for a scan.

anyone know what the blood tests rule out? Would there be anything in the bloods if it was the big C? worrying myself sick and just keen to hear perspectives as everything I read keeps pointing to lymphoma.

I'm not sure if I'm over worrying at the point.

  • My son who is 16 has a lump in neck but bloods came back clear but has a scan on 16th july to see what it could be any help here please am worrying so much could be nothing  xxx

  • Hi

I'm going through something similar at the moment, please can you tell me the outcome of your scans? Hope all is well! Xx

  • I'm in the same boat too. Found a lump a while ago. Not sore but a lump nonetheless. Blood work came back clear, awaiting scans in 3 days time.

Would love some friendly advice or reassurance!

  • Hey!

I'm sorry to hear you're going through something similar. I'm back after two years of forgetting to post an update and hopefully can provide some hope! TLDR: I was totally fine.

went for an ultrasound and biopsy on new years eve (2019/2020) and despite appearing solid right up to that point (and multiple doctors feeling, prodding etc) it actually was liquid filled. They drained it on the day of the ultrasound so they could take a biopsy, (watched it all on the ultrasound screen was facinating).

Anyway, it refilled pretty quickly and ended up bigger than it was before. Tests were done and it turned out not cancerous and they belived it was a branchial cyst. I had all sorts of follow up appointments as they were going to remove it with surgery. I was warned I'd have a 'Life changing scar' from my ear to my collar bone, I was a little worried because I'm a young woman, but frankly I couldn't care less about the scar because it wasn't cancer.

Two weeks before surgery (End of march 2020, height of covid) I woke up and it was gone. GONE. nothing there. I was stunned and very confused, called the consultant and they were just a bit like 'what do you mean it's gone?' and then my surgery was cancelled and it was all over.

So happy ending, weird one. But happy ending :-)
