Confusion concern cervical changes.

Hi everyone. I previously had cold coagulation for cin2 three years ago and have had yearly smears since as i have a form of HPV. I had a smear done in August, results said moderate changes so i had a follow up with a colposcopy which results did not show anything to the eye. I was called back and had to have lletz three weeks ago as they wanted a tissue biopsy to examine. I received a letter today saying the tissue biopsy only showed viral changes which did not correspond with the smear results of moderate changes taken in august. The consultant wants me back in three months for another colposcopy and they are going to discuss my case in their multidisciplinary team meeting in january and they will write to me following that meeting. Iam now completely confused. Have they missed something or am i worrying for nothing. Im scared and unsure what to think. Can anyone make sense of this process or have similar experiences please.

  • Hi Caroline82,

Welcome to Cancer Chat. I can imagine this is unsettling and confusing. Unfortunately I'm not sure what the reasoning behind this is - only to say that it sounds like they will be looking for further verification or clarification at the tests early next year. I'm glad to hear they are following up and in the meantime try not to dwell on it too much if possible, although I know this is easier said than done.

If you'd like to discuss anything with our nurses for any advice, you can reach them on 0808 800 4040 - Monday-Friday, 9-5.

    Wishing you all the best,
