My Mum is 86. A 4mm lung nodule was found back in May and rescanned in November. Just found out yesterday it has doubled and is now 8mm. The Dr has now ordered a PET scan. From what I've found on the internet this is not good and although the Dr said to take things one step at a time I fear the worst. She did say that nodules can grow if there is infection or inflammation in the body. Is this really likely? I'm trying to keep a sense of perspective but with Mum's age and other health conditions I'm struggling. I'm assuming if it was cancer they wouldn't treat it as she has heart failure and is very frail. Any advice would be appreciated as I'm feeling pretty devastated right now. Thank you x
